Volkswagen had a recall about a car that was manufactured in Germany. They discovered that the brake pads on this car could fail and slip under normal driving conditions. The car had been delivered to the United States. The US is very lenient in its recall policies and only recalled 30 cars out of 532,000 vehicles.
VW’s problem seems to be with the hydraulic brake system, which is the part of the car that helps control the brakes. The US is really lenient in its recall policies and only recalled 7.5% of the cars it has a problem with.
If I was a betting man, I would bet that Volkswagen’s problem was not with the hydraulic brake system. That would require VW to have been cheating – a car that wasn’t supposed to exist. Also, if VW had been cheating, it would probably have been a US car.
Not that I’m suggesting that VW is guilty of cheating. It’s just that it would be a lot easier if they had been. If VW had been cheating, the US would have recalled the cars, so it seems the VWs problem may have been more widespread than the US seems to think. On the other hand, if VW was not cheating, I’m sure they’d have done a good job of hiding the problem and that would have been a lot less difficult.
So what is VW up to now? A year ago the car maker was facing charges of cheating emissions tests. This led to the VW being recalled for almost a million cars. In 2008 the car company was also caught cheating on fuel economy tests, and its emissions cheating also led to an internal investigation. The VW also came under fire for cheating on the US government’s fuel economy standards, leading to the VW being placed on probation.
VW is one of the biggest automakers in the world. It has over 30,000 employees, and it is a major supplier of cars to the world and its cars are regularly used in many movies and commercials. With all the lawsuits, VW is under enormous strain when it comes to the production of cars, and the car maker cannot afford to lose even one customer.
Volkswagen is hoping that the recall will save it from bankruptcy. With the recall, they hope that they will be able to make more money by selling their cars to other automakers. It is possible that the recall is just a ruse to sell more cars to other countries, but it is also possible that VW is trying to save its very existence. At any rate, VW is hoping to put this recall behind it and move forward with its plan to build a new generation of cars.
Volkswagen has already had its share of trouble with recalls in the past, but it has also done a lot of good in the last few years. The same is true for all carmakers. If they can prove they aren’t buying cars from a specific factory, then they may be able to avoid recalls. VW was once known for its quality, but its quality has been pretty badly affected by the U.S. government’s new regulations on vehicles.
VW’s latest recall was brought on by a defective air bag system that could cause the vehicle to roll over when a person is in the passenger seat. The problem has since been fixed, but the carmaker has already had several other recalls in the recent past. VW knows that the recent recalls were the result of a lot of internal and external issues, so it wants to fix these problems as fast as possible.
VW has been hit with a slew of recalls this year and it’s not just because of a faulty air bag but because of a lot of other problems. VWs latest recall involved more than just the air bag system, too. VWs entire lineup of cars, SUVs, and vans were affected. The most affected vehicles were the Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Jetta, and Volkswagen Jetta GLE.
