You may also be thinking of rain sensors, which turn your wipers on and off to adjust your vehicle to rain as fast as possible. These are the most common wipers used today, and many people use them.
In our opinion, rain sensors are great, but they’re also a little bit clunky.
The best rain sensors are the ones that are as intelligent as possible. They know what is raining and what is drizzle/snow/rain, and adjust their wipers to keep the road clear as quickly as possible. They also know how fast the rain is falling/moving and adjust their wipers accordingly. You can also use them to help you adjust the speed of your wipers; just set the sensor to measure rain and adjust its speed to your wipers.
That all said, I have never had an issue with the sensor, and have found them to be very effective. To be honest, the problem I have had has been that they seem not to have the most precise readings. Instead of using the rain sensor to adjust the speed of your wipers, they instead just adjust it with the speed of the rain. This can cause your wipers to be a little slower than necessary, especially in wet weather.
The sensor’s accuracy has been tested and proven, so there must be something wrong with the sensor though that you’re already experiencing. I’m pretty sure it’s just a faulty sensor.
I would like to see RainSense work better with the sensor being a bit more accurate. It’s a shame that they only have the option to save an output to a file. Then all it has to do is change the speed of your wipers.
RainSense might be a bit more accurate but not much more. I think they just need to get a bit more specific about the sensor theyre using. This would make for a game that has the feeling of being a little more realistic than most games using rain sensors. The wipers are also a bit slower than standard ones, which is pretty annoying.
This is pretty much my main gripe for them. All the rain sensors I have seen are using a slow/medium speed, which can leave you with a very long “wip”-cycle. I also don’t understand why they only have the option to save the output of rain sensors to a file.
They have plans to add an option to save the results of rain sensors to a file, so that you can compare the result of multiple sensors in the same session. In theory this would allow for the possibility of having a rain sensor at work that is better than a rain sensor at home, which would be pretty cool.
Rain sensing wipers are another neat way to keep your windshield clean. They let you know when there is moisture on your windshield, and also let you know when you have rain. This can be especially helpful when the weather is bad, because it can help you decide when you should take a break from driving and focus on your windshield.
